Hip-Hop dance forms emerged as a response to socioeconomic conditions that sparked a cultural movement rooted in lived experiences that became a lifestyle for the youth that developed the dance form. Today, hip-hop dance styles have expanded and are performed worldwide as individuals and crews compete in battles, in entertainment (live performances, television shows, commercials, and music videos), and as part of socialization (dance fitness classes and social media platforms).
