This assignment addresses course outcome 1-4 and module learning objectives 2.1 #1 and 2; 2.2 #1 and 4; 2.3 #1-3; and 2.4 #1-4. 

In addition to 3-5 sentences provide, the page section of the textbook you found your answer with each of your responses. 

1 What were the causes of the Protestant Reformation? What were the main differences between the different Protestant groups?  

2 Consider the ways in which mercantilism benefited and harmed people in the nations that adopted it. Was mercantilism an ethical policy, or did it encourage exploitation? Why?

3 What were the most significant things exchanged as part of the Columbian Exchange? Who benefited most from the Columbian Exchange, and who benefited the least? Who benefited the least? 

4 What were some differences between African slavery and slavery in the Americas? What were some ways enslaved persons maintained their dignity and humanity amid their hardship?

5 The fifteenth and sixteenth century are often called the “Age of Exploration.” What inventions—both in Europe and from outside sources—helped European exploration? Is the term “Age of Exploration” problematic, especially from the perspective of the indigenous populations who lived in the areas where the Europeans “explored”? Why or why not?
