This assignment addresses course outcomes 1-4 and module learning objectives 11.1-11.4. 

In addition to 3-5 sentences, provide the page section of the textbook you found your answer with each of your responses. 

1. Who are the winners and losers in a globalizing world and how has this impacted Western civilization? 
2. Why are there often tensions between environmental movements and developing countries? Consider either: some of the issues raised by Carson's book, Chernobyl, the depletion of the rainforest, or the global response (and agreements) to climate change. 
3. Explain the role of the EU and NATO in European politics. What is the importance of these organizations on the continent (with particular attention to the UK, Germany, France and Italy)? Why did Britain leave the EU? 
4. How did Europe react to the large number of refugees entering the continent in the twenty-first century? Identify some of the root causes and immediate consequences. 
5. What are some of the benefits and problems of globalization? Consider  trade and technology, in particular.
