Prompt 1: The Nature of Reality Metaphysics delves into questions about the nature of reality. Discuss the distinction between objective reality and subjective reality. Explore the concept of universals and particulars. How do philosophical positions like realism, nominalism, and conceptualism address the nature of universals and their relationship to particulars? Provide real-life examples to illustrate these philosophical concepts.

Prompt 2: Personal Identity and Persistence One of the intriguing topics in metaphysics is the nature of personal identity and the persistence of objects over time. Discuss the problem of personal identity and its connection to the mind-body problem. Consider various theories, such as psychological continuity, physical continuity, and the bundle theory of self. Which theory do you find most compelling, and why? Analyze a scenario where personal identity becomes complex, such as brain transplant or gradual personality changes.

Prompt 4: Causation and Determinism Causation and determinism are central concepts in metaphysics. Define causation and explore the relationship between cause and effect. Discuss the challenges posed by determinism to notions of free will and moral responsibility. Analyze how indeterminacy and the concept of quantum mechanics influence our understanding of causation. Can causation coexist with genuine freedom of choice?
