Assignment:

Instructions:  Make an argument for or against him. To do this, choose only one of the options below: 

1. Write a persuasive essay for or against Andrew Jackson. In your writing you should answer the question “Was he a “people’s president” or was he more like a king?” You must have 3 supporting details to back up your argument.

Requirements:

• A clear argument for or against Andrew Jackson
• At least 3 supporting details that back up your argument (these would be from your text and what we have learned in class)
• Minimum of 400 words

2. Draw a political cartoon about Andrew Jackson that supports or opposes the president. Your cartoon should show why you support or oppose Jackson as a president and explain your cartoon in a long and very detailed paragraph response

Requirements:          

• At least 3 reasons represented for or against Jackson
• Clearly represents a point of view about Jackson
• Cartoon title
• Neatly done and with color

3. Create a political song about Andrew Jackson. This may be from the point of view of Jackson and his followers or from someone in opposition of Jackson trying to persuade others not to vote for him and a long and very detailed paragraph explaining your song.

Requirements:

• At least 3 reasons for or against Andrew Jackson
• Song should be at least 30-45 seconds in length
• Song title
• Be Creative

4. Create a campaign poster supporting or opposing Andrew Jackson. Using any materials you will create a poster or banner persuading others to support or oppose Jackson and a one-page explanation of your campaign poster.

Requirements:

• At least 3 reasons why people should oppose or support Jackson
• Poster should be colorful and include pictures and large font
• Clearly shows that the poster is for or against Jackson
• Neatly done
• Be creative
