Chapter 2.10 "Theory Exercise" Assignment (MLO 2.3)
Instructions
This assignment addresses COs 1, 3, and 4 and MLOs 1 and 3.
Thinking about the different criminological theories you have read about in the previous sections, is there one that interests you the most? Are there more than one? Take a few minutes and write down a few main talking points about which theory or theories best describe your own personal experience with crime. Use as much personal information as you are comfortable with: Family experience, personal experience, what you have read, what you have seen, etc. Then have someone list the different theories and how many times they are mentioned and tally them up.
Which one had the most mentions?
How many were able to integrate more than one theory into their listing?
You may want to go back to: Chapter 2.10 Criminological Schools and Their Theories and re-read this section.
Submissions should be in Word or Google Docs format with a proper APA style heading as follows: (Times New Roman, 12-point font, double spaced)
This is a group assignment and can be submitted as such. Each participating student must have a listed theory/theories and a summarization (about a paragraph) as to why those theories best suit their situation.
Each individual summary can then be submitted to be graded and the overall tally with a synopsis of the class discussion can be presented.
