Module 3: Lab 3: Report Assignment -E&M and Quantum Theory- (worth 10 points maximum)
This assignment supports the following objectives:
- (CLO6) Use the scientific method to conduct and interpret basic laboratory experiments relevant to course content and to write concise and comprehensive laboratory reports.
- (CLO5) Record, graph, chart and interpret data obtained from experimentation.
Electromagnetic Energy (3.1)
- Explain the basic behavior of waves, including traveling waves and standing waves (CLO1)(CLO3)
- Describe the wave nature of light (CLO1)(CLO3)
- Use appropriate equations to calculate related light-wave properties (CLO2)
- Distinguish between line and continuous emission spectra (CLO1)
- Describe the particle nature of light (CLO1)(CLO3)
Development of Quantum Theory (3.3)
- Extend the concept of wave–particle duality that was observed in electromagnetic radiation to matter as well (CLO1)
Lab Report Assignment Instructions:
1. Complete the Module 3: Lab 3: Experiment
2. Write the Module 3: Lab 3: Report using the format below
3. Upload the completed Experiment Handout using the file upload tool below
4. Upload the Lab 3: Report using the file upload tool below
Lab Report Format:
TITLE: LAB 3 Report: E&M and Quantum Theory
YOUR NAME:
ABSTRACT:
- What you did (Explain the Procedure that you followed)
- How you did it (Give the tool and/or "simulator URL" used)
- Why you did it (What was the purpose for doing this experiment)
- What you found (Discuss the quality of your data based on the size of percent error values if you have any and/or Discuss something that you figured out about how the values in your data change as you manipulate the simulator)
DATA/ANALYSIS: This is the Completed Experiment Handout (upload separately)
CONCLUSION: What did you learn, not what you did using the simulator (Explain a concept, skill, tool, or formula that you learned as a result of doing this experiment)
