In a post below, respond to the following prompt, which assesses the following outcomes:
- Course SLO 1: Identify the basic economic principles that serve as the foundation of economic analysis
- Course SLO 3:Analyze the economic impact of government regulation, price setting, and taxes on consumers and producers.
- Module SLO: 10.3.3 - Contrast cost-plus and price cap regulation
- Module SLO: 10.4.1 – Evaluate the effectiveness of price regulation and antitrust policy
- Module SLO: 10.4.3 – Explain regulatory capture and its significance.

Between Section 1 and 3 we see tools that the government can utilize to help ensure competition and to protect consumers from extravagantly high prices from a monopolist. For this discussion, your task is to:
- Identify and describe a tool or measure used in this chapter to ensure competitive pricing and anti-trust policies.
- Explain the benefits and intentions of this tool or policy.
- Explain how this tool or policy may fall short in preventing monopolies, protecting consumers, or any other uncompetitive practice that we may run into.
- Reply to two of your peers’ posts.

discussion promotes peer-to-peer and student-instructor
interaction. Questions should be thought provoking and encourage detailed analysis of module topics. Include a rubric.

type to "Q and A forum." For this type, you must create a post first for students to
respond.
Subscription: Set to Auto.
Due dates: You cannot set due dates for forums, so be sure
to tell students when to post above. These dates will not appear on the Moodle calendar.
Ratings: will place the forum in the gradebook. You can set a maximum grade. Restricting ratings to a date range only affects when you can grade, and not when the activity is available to students.
Activity completion: You can select completion criteria and an expected completed date.
