Care and treatment for those who suffer with mental health issues has not always been the best. There has been a long history of abuse and mistreatment of people with mental illness, through no fault of their own. Medical science professionals are equally baffled as to the extent to which they are to be responsible for the care and treatment as society, given the many varieties of mental health conditions that are known at the moment, and those that continually being discovered. Additionally, the criminal justice system has seen an increasing rate of mental health abnormalities in crime statistics among criminals of all ages, including the most vulnerable: juveniles.

- What alternatives could be presented to possibly deter future acts of criminal behavior and help keep juvenile prison populations down?
- What programs could be provided to assist a juvenile who expresses a need for mental health care and treatment? (do some research)
